SolTech Projects is excited to be working with Dr. David Keith, Director of the University of Calgary's Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy (ISEEE). As the evolution from theory to reality of "air capture" of CO2 continues to progress, SolTech Projects has been retained to assist in the cost estimating and associated preliminary design of some of the equipment required to continue to advance this technology. "Professor Keith has worked near the interface between climate science, energy technology and public policy for twenty years. His work in technology and policy assessment has centered on the capture and storage of CO2, the technology and implications of global climate engineering, the economics and climatic impacts of large-scale wind power and the prospects for hydrogen fuel. As a technologist, David has built a high-accuracy infrared spectrometer for NASA's ER-2 and developed new methods for reservoir engineering to increase the safety of stored CO2. He now leads a team of engineers developing technology to capture of CO2 from ambient air at an industrial scale." (Used with permission from http://www.ucalgary.ca/~keith/ ) Air Capture of CO2, unlike capture from a point source such as an exhaust gas flue stack, will remove CO2 from ambient air. This means that systems could be set-up at independent locations to provide a capture mechanism for diffuse sources such as automobiles and aircraft.
